New York City, 27 October 2007. I will be appearing at an event with the great Australian authors Margo Lanagan, Scott Westerfeld, Justine Larbalestier and esteemed editor Jonathan Strahan from 3.00pm at the fabulous Books of Wonder store in Manhattan. Details here
I will also be attending the World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga Springs, New York from October 31.
More Old Kingdom Books to come, other news
I will be writing two more novels set in the Old Kingdom and Ancelstierre. They will be published by Allen & Unwin in Australia and by HarperCollins US and HarperCollins UK.
The first, probably out in 2010, will be Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen, which is the story of the young woman who eventually became Chlorr of the Mask. It takes place about 320 years before the events in Sabriel. The second is untitled, and is a sequel of sorts to Abhorsen, taking place several years later. It should be out in 2011. Both 2010 and 2011 seem like a long way away but no doubt will sneak up on me horribly when I least expect it. Sometimes I think time is a practitioner of the secret Welsh martial art of Llap-Goch.
Before those two Old Kingdom books I have to finish The Keys to the Kingdom (I'm nearly done with Superior Saturday, so just Lord Sunday after that) and there will also be a standalone science fiction novel, called A Confusion of Princes, which should be out in 2009.
The Secret Science Fiction MMOG you can play on Facebook real soon now!
Speaking of science fiction, the background for A Confusion of Princes forms part of a massively multiplayer online game I've been secretly working on for the last three years or so with a small team of very talented programmers and artists (Hi Phil and Les). Called Imperial Galaxy, a portion of the game will be playable on Facebook from the end of November 2007 or thereabouts. If you want to be in on what will be a kind of open beta test, then ask to friend me on Facebook.com and you'll be sure to find out about the game down the track. I'm happy to electronically befriend any readers on Facebook, by the way, though I'm not very responsive to all the potential communications -- there's just not enough time.
New Story in Jonathan Strahan’s ECLIPSE 1 Anthology
Apart from all that, I have a story (for adults) coming out in Eclipse 1 edited by Jonathan Strahan this month.
I find this extremely exciting, especially the middle, which I have bolded. Anyone agree with me?
