Subject:A Keys to the Kingdom RP?
Posted by:girlfromfiction.
Time:4:50 pm.
I never saw a single "Keys to the Kingdom" RPG as I searched through Google and Yahoo! So I was wondering if anyone would like to join. It's a mutifandom/original RPG and you don't really HAVE to read the series. Info's all under the LJ cut!

The Charter has fallen: the Old Wall and Great stones are broken
and useless, and the Bloodlines had been ended. The Old
Kingdom has been thrust once again into chaos and decay,
and it seems as though Free Magic has claimed the
kingdom once and for all.

But there's about to be a second chance: new Bloodlines are
emerging, mimicking the old, though weaker. If they can
discover the truth- what really happened to usher in an age of
despair- a new kingdom could rise from the ashes of the old.
But will they ever survive North of the Wall?

Set in the world of Garth Nix's Abhorsen/Old Kingdom series;
all original characters. One of several games at
Dreaming Out Loud, a multi-game role-playing site.

i thought if anyone could really appreciate these, it would be you guys:
this is one of my newest tattoos, i got it a few months ago but forgot to post it here:

there are 7 bells of course, they wrap over halfway around my wrist so theres really no way to get a picture of the whole tattoo, lol. but its my favorite tattoo so far, i love it.

and next my kitten (almost a cat now, really, he's getting so big!):

who is of course named Mogget. he sleeps about as much as mogget, and is just as annoying with food-stealing, but he is much nicer. and unfortunately, he doesn't speak human. BUT he speaks cat, a lot. he is the most talkative cat i have ever met, ever since he was a tiny baby, he would just run around the room playing and yowling and meowing and making all sorts of noise.

as soon as i finish my second go at making my sabriel costume, i will post that up here too ;)

I'm not sure if many of you are on the mailing list for Garth Nix's website, but I got a gem today with a link to this:

Nix to pitch Sabriel film package for Hollywood

MEGASELLING FANTASY AUTHOR Garth Nix is poised to take Hollywood by storm. He has assembled an A-list dream team in order to bring Sabriel, the first book in his Old Kingdom trilogy, to the screen. The group will pitch the package to studios later this month via Steve Fisher at APA. Nix is co-writing the screenplay with Dan Futterman, actor and Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Capote, and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner at Plan B (Brad Pitt's company) will produce. The director will be Anand Tucker (Shopgirl, Hilary and Jackie).

I myself am incredibly apprehensive, but that's because many book-to-film adaptations don't properly represent their book origins. Though, the article does mention that Nix majored in screenwriting in college and will be co-writing the script. Any thoughts here?

:) I am officially saying Hi (though I am late to do so; I just posted like 30 replies to everything. Rofl)
I basically only really went on her once. So I am still a little confused. Whatever.
I think I'll skip the whole goopy I Love Nix And Everything bit until maybe it actually is related to some other post

Subject:garthnix.com update!
Posted by:macmaxbh.
Time:5:00 pm.
Mood: excited.
Quoted from Garth Nix's website:

Appearances

New York City, 27 October 2007. I will be appearing at an event with the great Australian authors Margo Lanagan, Scott Westerfeld, Justine Larbalestier and esteemed editor Jonathan Strahan from 3.00pm at the fabulous Books of Wonder store in Manhattan. Details here

I will also be attending the World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga Springs, New York from October 31.

More Old Kingdom Books to come, other news

I will be writing two more novels set in the Old Kingdom and Ancelstierre. They will be published by Allen & Unwin in Australia and by HarperCollins US and HarperCollins UK.

The first, probably out in 2010, will be Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen, which is the story of the young woman who eventually became Chlorr of the Mask. It takes place about 320 years before the events in Sabriel. The second is untitled, and is a sequel of sorts to Abhorsen, taking place several years later. It should be out in 2011. Both 2010 and 2011 seem like a long way away but no doubt will sneak up on me horribly when I least expect it. Sometimes I think time is a practitioner of the secret Welsh martial art of Llap-Goch.

Before those two Old Kingdom books I have to finish The Keys to the Kingdom (I'm nearly done with Superior Saturday, so just Lord Sunday after that) and there will also be a standalone science fiction novel, called A Confusion of Princes, which should be out in 2009.

The Secret Science Fiction MMOG you can play on Facebook real soon now!

Speaking of science fiction, the background for A Confusion of Princes forms part of a massively multiplayer online game I've been secretly working on for the last three years or so with a small team of very talented programmers and artists (Hi Phil and Les). Called Imperial Galaxy, a portion of the game will be playable on Facebook from the end of November 2007 or thereabouts. If you want to be in on what will be a kind of open beta test, then ask to friend me on Facebook.com and you'll be sure to find out about the game down the track. I'm happy to electronically befriend any readers on Facebook, by the way, though I'm not very responsive to all the potential communications -- there's just not enough time.

New Story in Jonathan Strahan’s ECLIPSE 1 Anthology

Apart from all that, I have a story (for adults) coming out in Eclipse 1 edited by Jonathan Strahan this month.

I find this extremely exciting, especially the middle, which I have bolded. Anyone agree with me?

I've been a Garth Nix fan for quite a while, so I'm surprised I'm just now joining a community dedicated to him. Anyway, my name's Amber and I'm 20. I've read Shade's Children, the Abhorsen trilogy, The Seventh Tower, Mister Monday, and Grim Tuesday. I'm currently reading Drowned Wednesday, which I was finally able to get from the library. Does anyone know if Nix has written any stand alone books other than Shade's Children? I'm curious to read them. :D Thanks~! ^o^

Subject:Roleplay, anyone?

Hi, Abhorsen fans.

I've been rereading the trilogy, and it occurred to me that this would be a great roleplay setting. So I looked around, and there's not much by way of message-board format RP to be had. Basically, I'm looking around to see if there's any interest in starting a pre-trilogy, circa Charter-formation game. Would anyone else enjoy this?

Cross-posted to various Abhorsen LJ comms. Thanks!
